The Beatles: Abroad (VR-03) The Beatles Abroad, August 30th 1965. Brian Matthew joined The Beatles entourage from the August 15th - August 20th 1965 to report on this stage of the group's North American tour. Brian Epstein gave permission to the BBC Transcription Service to record interviews with The Beatles for a documentary programme. The material taped was compiled into a 45 minute documentary "The Beatles Abroad" broadcast by the Light Programme on Monday August 30th 1965 - a bank holiday in England, Wales. Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Scotland did not hear the broadcast until Monday January 3rd 1966. Previously this has only appeared in poor quality on Strawberry Records' impressive Mythology box set in edited form. Here is the complete broadcast in best quality to date! This version originates from a reel to reel tape, and was missing the first two seconds containing the words "The Beatles Abroad", which were spliced in from the Strawberry release of the same show. Just to make this the most complete version. As bonustracks we have included a portion of the recently discovered tape of The Beatles appearing on Jukebox Jury as rebroadcasted by the BBC on May 4th 2002, and an interview where Paul gets a bit carried away with revealing the plot to Help...
