The Beatles- Shea Stadium August 15, 1965 Complete with Line sound Shea Stadium line recording married to the concert film. To start things off, I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes with this. I’m told there’s a DVD from someone else on the way, and from the sound of it, it might put my humble offering to shame. If you feel like waiting for that one rather than downloading mine, it certainly won’t hurt my feelings. But I’m a video editor by trade, and the prospect of putting this together was so tantalizing that I simply couldn’t resist. The video is taken from the recent torrent of the ABC-TV master, and of course the audio is the line recording that we’ve all been enjoying for the past few days. Now for a few notes on what I’ve done: 1. This DVD contains the concert portion only. I did this mostly to keep the file size reasonably small, so people wouldn’t have to commit to a huge download of an unknown quantity. 2. The audio has been edited to match the film. This means that some between-songs chatter has been eliminated, just as in the original film. The songs themselves are all intact, complete with the various technical problems of the line feed. 3. The film itself has not been altered in any way, with the sole exception of moving the full version of “I’m Down”, seen near the beginning of the film, to the end. “Act Naturally” remains in its out-of-sequence place, right where the film editors put it. 4. I have included dual audio streams—the line recording and the original film soundtrack. These can be selected in the menu, or for more instant results, by pressing the AUDIO button on your DVD remote while viewing.
